// New Album from Monkey Business ! // ‘Garageland’ (2021)
* THOSE of us of a certain vintage, who were active in the local live music scene in the late 1980s, can’t fail to remember the name Monkey Business.
‘R ‘N’ B & Rock ‘N’ Roll’ was their motto, and that was what they delivered in spades to scores of whooping fans who followed them around the live gig circuit.
Dr. Feelgood, harder edged Neil Young and that song from the Blues Brothers filled their set-lists, which is apt, as it seems that now is the time to get the old band back together – at least in part.
Check out these new recordings, made by Monkey lead guitarist Graham Sykes, with trademark booming vocals by the ever sterling stalwart, ‘Big Swin’ aka Mark Swindlehurst.
The first number is a cover of the 1986 song ‘Understanding Jane’ by Ian McNabb’s Icicle Works (with extra guitar from Adrian Trelore), backed-up with an even bolshier take on Larry Williams’s ‘Bad Boy’.
